CHIA-HUI LIEN's Award-Winning Design Fuses Spirituality and Aesthetics

The design's unique properties lie in its visual representation of the lotus flower and roots, symbols of spiritual purification. The lotus, known for its ability to grow in muddy waters yet remain untainted, serves as a powerful metaphor for the human capacity to face reality and solve problems with a healthy mentality.

CHIA-HUI LIEN's design was realized using bronze special printing to express the sanctity of the lotus, highlighting the theme's significance. The design also incorporates kraft paper printing and a threading technique common in oriental culture book design. This combination of materials and techniques results in a work that is visually compelling and rich in texture.

The design was completed through a series of processes, including printing and follow-up processing. The use of bronzing technology enhances the visual focus and texture of the work. Different types of paper were chosen to represent different aspects of the design, such as envelopes made from translucent tracing paper combined with bronzing technology, creating a design that recipients would want to treasure.

The 'Harmony Without Disputes' project was inspired by works from 2014 and was published in Taiwan between 2014 and 2016. The design is part of the Dharma Drum Mountain Southern District Dharma Practice Division's image series for the "Year of Harmony Without Disputes" anniversary activities.

CHIA-HUI LIEN's design faced challenges in trying to surpass past design performances. However, the result is a design that not only communicates a sense of attention but also serves as a connection between people. This design was recognized for its creativity and innovation, winning the Silver A' Graphics, Illustration and Visual Communication Design Award in 2018.
